What is EquiBind? Is it the same as Digestive EQ?Updated a year ago

A dual-action toxin binder to support horses where mycotoxins may be present on stored feed and/or pasture. EquiBind is formulated with our dual-action toxin binder, magnesium, calcium, antioxidant Vitamin C, and B-group Vitamins, to help horses who are sensitive to feed contamination.

EquiBind must be fed as part of a balanced diet with ample forage. EquiBind is safe for laminitic horses and ponies, and for all horses, of all ages, including horses who are in work, spelling, breeding or growing.

What are Mycotoxins and why are they an issue?

Mycotoxins are invisible and toxic ‘secondary metabolites’ produced by the moulds and fungi present in feeds, forages (hay etc) and grass. As you know, moulds and fungi tend to grow more in warm, moist conditions, and this is when the mycotoxin load in your horse’s feed is likely to be highest.

Mycotoxins present a highly toxic threat to our horses' health. They can affect the liver, immune function, hormone production, reproduction and cause leaky gut and neurological issues. 

Several mycotoxins can damage intestinal villi reducing nutrient absorption, causing leaky gut, and sometimes diarrhoea and colic.

They can also cause dramatic behavioural changes in horses; leading to normally calm and well trained horses to be exceptionally dangerous to handle and ride!

How does Equibind help your horse cope with Mycotoxins?

EquiBind contains a Next Generation Dual Action mycotoxin binder designed to bind both polar and non-polar molecules to combat any mycotoxins present in feed, pasture and forage (hay, chaff, haylage).

Designed to reduce the impact of mycotoxins on your horse’s health and behaviour, EquiBind also provides extra nutritional support - we added Magnesium, Vitamin C, B-Group Vitamins to help your horse cope with exposure to mycotoxins.

How does this compare to Digestive EQ and Digestive RP?

EquiBind doesn't replace Digestive EQ. 

Digestive EQ and Digestive RP already have a mycotoxin binder in their formulation in Australia. 

EquiBind provides additional mycotoxin binding support when the seasons require it, and can be used in combination with Digestive EQ and Digestive RP or separately.
