How to introduce and feed MetaboLizeUpdated a year ago

How do I feed MetaboLize®?

Plant-based, powdered feed supplement, MetaboLize® can be added to your horse’s normal feed. You can also mix it with any oils or with wet feeds such as beet fibre or through your feed and wet down.

Ideally it is best to feed in two feeds per day. Doing this gives your horse longer periods of glucose diversion and may allow for better and quicker adjustment out of insulin dysregulation. BUT, we get that sometimes feeding twice per day is not possible. If this is the situation you are in, you can feed the full serve in one meal per day.

It is best practice to introduce all new feeds and supplements into a horse’s diet over a period of 7 days. This is particularly important for horses prone to digestive disturbances like colic and diarrhoea, or horses prone to laminitis. What we suggest is:

  • Days 1 and 2 - ¼ recommended serve

  • Days 3 and 4 – ½ recommended serve

  • Days 5 and 6 – ¾ recommended serve

  • Day 7 onwards – full recommended serve

What is the serving size?

  • The enclosed scoop for MetaboLize® is 3gms.
  • Feed 1 scoop for horses up 400kg and 2 if over 400kg.
  • Make sure you store MetaboLize® at 25C or less, in a dry place. Keep the bag sealed at all times.
  • All of our supplements are competition safe and non-swabbable, so you can use them anytime.

How long does a MetaboLize® pack last?

MetaboLize® comes in 2 sizes 90 gms and 180 gms

How long does it take to see an improvement?

Horse owners who are using MetaboLize® are reporting seeing improved physical changes in as early as 4-5 days, with horses appearing more comfortable and able to move about more freely. The softening of fatty lumps usually begins to occur within two weeks, and should continue to improve over time.

As your horse starts to process the sugars in their diet more normally you should see an improvement, particularly in horses with chronic Laminitis. Clinically, these horses have become brighter and more engaged with life, and shown a desire and ability to move and exercise more freely.

If you don’t see a result that quickly, don’t panic. Every horse is different, and some will taking longer to respond due to a greater level of insulin dysregulation.

Why does MetaboLize® change colour?

Flavoniods used in MetaboLize® are derived extracts from natural plants and trees so as seasons change, so do their texture and colour. It is normal to see a variation in colour, sometimes more brown, sometimes more yellow, and in texture. We test all our batches to ensure they have the right required active ingredients to work.
